About Affirmations
What are affirmations?
- Emotional support or encouragement.
- The action or process of affirming something or being affirmed.
Affirmations are sentences, or simply self-talks, spoken, written or thought with the outcome of being absorbed by the conscious and/or subconscious mind and turned into habitual patterns of thought, behavior and beliefs. They can be positive or even negative.
It begins in our childhood
In reality every thought we think every word we say is an affirmation. We are continually affirming subconsciously with our words our inner thoughts, feeling, and believes. This flow is creating our life experience each moment.
Our beliefs are just learned thought patterns that we have developed since childhood. Some work well for us, but others may be working against us, and may be sabotaging us from achieving what we want. It is important to know that some of our believes may be based on impressions we got as children. Our subconscious mind uses the behavior patterns we've learned from our childhood on to automatically react to circumstances. And our emotions (our feelings)
Children's developing self-images are vulnerable. Once children begin to feel inappropriate, unloved, stupid about a subject, or a burden, the negative development begins. It soon defeats their egos along with their will to learn and grow.
For our sub-consciousness doesn't know the difference between reality and fantasy nor between lie and truth, but our conscious mind does, and we can train and rewire them.
How do affirmations work?
- Decide what area of your life you want to work on and then decide what it is exactly you want.
- You need your mind to absorb and threat these affirmations as your reality for at least 1-3 hours a day. Sometimes it takes several weeks up to month to become your new world. Speak or repeat any affirmation either silently in your thoughts or reciting out loud and FEEL in every moment the confidence that arises in you. The "feeling it" is the key of success. Our positive thought-waives and our positive feeling-waives have to be aligned, otherwise they are ineffective therefore only needless words. Every time you see your face in a mirror, or you see your reflection in a shop window tell them your desire. Listening and repeating positive affirmations will strengthen your conscious mind, and you'll be uplifted and by being that, you are sending out positive aligned vibrations.
- Affirmations must be POSITIVE, and never use the word like: NO, NOT, DON'T, WON'T...
- Write them down and keep them short and very specific.
- Remember that your emotions (your feelings) and your thoughts or words have to be aligned. The more you feel and believe what you are saying or hearing, the bigger is the chance that your desires become part of your life.
In each of us slumbers this wonderful power to design our life, according to our own desires.
With affirmations we are not only able to become healthy, and change our thoughts, beliefs or behaviors, but we have as well the power to make our desires work.
Against some beliefs, that a positive affirmation has to be in the present tense, I believe that this is not always the case. Telling to myself for example "I am slim" and the truth is not the same, my consciousness will rebel against, and this makes it impossible to change something. So, I made the experience, that saying phrases like: "I'm on the best path to be slim", or "I like to see me as a slim person", or "I find it great being slim", or "More and more I'm getting slimmer", sounds acceptable and hopeful to my conscious mind.
Follow these 10 steps and you'll be successful
- Constantly repeating the positive affirmations make your desires powerful and strong. The more intensely and the more often you do this, the more persistent and constant the desired energy will be emitted.
- Pay repeatedly attention to your wishes. Close shortly your eyes in the bus, car, at work or wherever, and think you into your desire.
- Fall asleep each evening by listening to your affirmations. The best way is with a preceding relaxation induction, like my "dreamagine", a hypnosis or trance induction. In this way, you'll be in the so called alpha state, the brain waves slow down and your mind is more receptive for any information.
- When you wake up, give you and your desires 5-10 minutes. Sit down relaxed and repeat the heard affirmations or stand before a mirror and say to yourself the affirmations looking in your eyes.
- These affirmations have to be your new reality. They have more power than anything else.
- Repeat them every time you feel that doubts coming up, you're tired and feel worn out, or if you feel that you are getting discouraged or drifting into the old fairway.
- The more pictorial your idea is, the more joyful your expectation is, the stronger will be your faith and therefore the realization of your desire.
- Important is the full conviction of your thoughts in the mind.
- As well essential is it that you feel the power of your affirmations.
- Each affirmation should feel good and give you the feeling of security.
By using positive affirmations you can start shifting your thoughts towards new perspectives, and embrace new experiences in your new world.
There is an immense power behind each of us, but our behaviors have to match with our intentions, our actions have to match with our thoughts, our minds have to match with our body, and at least our words have to match - be aligned - with our deeds.
